...a good (but by no means the most expensive!) teak garden set of table and chairs that cost about £1,500 to purchase
The owners' experiences of teak oiling and varnishing were poor. So he'd decided to let nature take its course! However, after a few years he was dissapointed to see the loss of colour and a generally dirty appearance with stains.
The furniture had, over the years, been outside uncovered, under a gazebo and then covered during one winter. The grey/silver patina and algae was expected; but the algae was really bad on some items.
Wine glass and food stains etc. couldn't be removed with a wash or wipe and left the surfaces looking grubby.
